In the latest 2017 release of Autodesk InfraWorks 360, Adaptive Trees were added as a new feature to the software. What’s unique about an adaptive tree is that it has levels of detail that are automatically assigned as you zoom in and out of the model you’re working on.
For example, if you were to zoom in closely to an adaptive tree within InfraWorks you would notice that it’s very detailed and realistic, but when you zoom out, the tree becomes less and less detailed, which is particularly noticeable in the shadow, which becomes more sparse as your zoom out.
You may be wondering why is this important? The answer is that adaptive trees greatly improve the performance of your model, because a large amount of highly detailed trees can really bog down your model, especially if the specifications on your computer are not particularly up to the job.
