Have you made the move and upgraded to the latest version of AutoCAD 2016? Earlier this year Autodesk released AutoCAD 2016, therefore making it the 30th release of the CAD software. Did you know the first version of the software was released back in 1982!
AutoCAD 2016 offers numerous new features including enhanced PDFs, smart dimensioning, a more stunning visual experience, co-ordination model and sysvar monitor.
Stunning Visual Experience
Every year Autodesk works hard to make improvements to its CAD software. The new release offers users with a clearer user interface and smoother lines, arcs and circles to improve designs. The upgraded stunning visual experience also enables users to see results of commands before committing to them.
Users can now produce smaller, faster and smarter PDFs with more searchable content. This makes it even easier to share and communicate between colleagues and clients. Hyperlinks from AutoCAD are also included in the PDFs you’re creating.
Automatically create appropriate measurements on your drawing content with smart dimensioning including in AutoCAD 2016. This features enables users to pass the cursor over selected objects to preview the dimension before it’s created.
The brand new co-ordination model eliminates any guesswork you may have had to make in the past. The feature allows users to work and view with Navisworks and BIM 360 Glue Models whilst still directly inside using AutoCAD.
Otherwise known as the System Variable Monitor, this features allows users to monitor changes to system variables and notifies them of any changes, allowing users to reset back to a preferred setting.

Every year Autodesk releases a new update for its software with a whole host of new and enhanced features. The new features aren’t just there to make the product more marketable, they are added to make your workflow a lot easier and quicker. If you check the release comparison matrix you will notice that the 2016 version offers over 10 main new features compared to the 2013 version including a refined, easier to use interface, help window, smart dimensioning, a sysvar monitor, image-based lighting environments and much more.
Using the latest software version also makes your practice look a lot more professional and up to date using the latest technology. Also showing a dedication to the latest Autodesk software can show you are dedicated to producing the highest quality drawings and designs for your clients.
The more you wait to upgrade the more difficult it will be for you and your company to make the change to the latest software. If you keep saying to yourself “I’ll make the change in the next couple of years” you may find it more costly and demanding to update your whole team to the latest version as so many new features are released every year and hardware requirements often change as computers and graphic cards become more powerful.
