Benchmarq was engaged to provide 3D modelling of the site from land survey and aerial data, then to assist in the optimisation of pipeline alignment from the high level processing plant down into the proposed flare pit.
Slope stability was of critical importance due to the region’s poor soil properties, high annual rainfall and the 40m level descent. Several variations of alignment were investigated, the goal being to maintain critical vertical gradients, minimize the amount of earthworks construction and the requirement for expensive and complex pipe support as the pipeline route negotiated the bench and berm construction of the slopes.
Photorealistic visualisations of the project have been provided to our client and the site owner/operator throughout in order to demonstrate the scope of the project to board members and other stakeholders. Some examples are shown here. The next stage of the project involves the production of sectional details for the earthworks along the final pipeline alignment to aid the civils design definition.
