Case Study: Scan-to-BIM
Project: Tower Block Cladding Refurb
Commissioned by a leading facade engineering company, Benchmarq was chosen to undertake the survey and 3D modelling of a tower block in Manchester, UK. Our client was tasked with the refurbishment of the cladding, replacing poorly performing exterior cladding panels. The refurbishment required accurate modelling of the building structure, with particular attention paid to the precise location of window frames, metal trims and other permanent exterior features around which the new cladding would need to be accurately positioned.
Our brief was to:
- Carry out the survey of the high rise building using a highly accurate, long range Riegl scanner.
- Create a highly accurate building elevations model, with Revit families created for each different window type which were then placed into the 3D model.
- Deliver a Revit *.rvt file to the engineering company managing the cladding refurbishment.
