Case Study: Scan-to-BIM
Project: Pantycelyn Hall - Upgrade of Student Accommodation
In 1974 Pantycelyn was designated a Welsh hall of residence and became a focus of Welsh-speaking life at Aberystwyth University. However, by 2015 the Grade II-listed building had become outdated and was closed for a substantial refurbishment. At an estimated cost of £12m, the refurb plans include modern, en-suite bedrooms for 200 students as well as social spaces for use both by students and the local community. Funding has been supported by the Welsh Government and the building is due to re-open in September 2020.
Our brief was to:
- Receive and process the point cloud survey data for the site from our survey partner.
- Create a detailed building model of the elevations and interior rooms & spaces, including highly detailed families for the windows and fenestrations.
- Deliver a Revit *.rvt file back to the project architects responsible for the refurbishment of the building.
