Case Study: Scan-to-BIM
Project: Craft in The Bay
‘Craft in the Bay’ is an interesting blend of the old and the new. Operated by a charitable arts organisation, The Makers Guild in Wales, it provides a retail space for local artisans and craft makers to sell their unique works. The building itself is an amalgam of the old and the new. The older part is a rebuilt and relocated ‘D’ Shed which had previously served as a garage. It is connected to and juxtaposed by an uber-modern, sleek glass and steel extension forming a sharp point.
Our brief was to:
- Receive and process the point cloud survey data for the site from our survey partner.
- Create a detailed building model featuring all of the structural elements from both parts of the building, including the ornate, wrought iron, cruciform section columns, bracing and interior roof trusses.
- Deliver a Revit *.rvt file back to the project team managing the development of the site.
